On Saturday the 5th of
August 2017 the heavy weights in US house, Uk Garage, soul and disco came together in Trent County Park. The sun was shining, people where moving and the music was excellent. This
could only be the must go to staple event of the summer….. 51ST STATE
For the 3rd year in a row,
51ST State opened its gates for a day packed with friendly faces, slamming tunes and good vibes that lasted late into the summer evening.
The festival has grown in size, with more people, bigger names, bigger Dj’s and
alot more fun. There was some teething problems last year, with long cues for drinks, food and toilets. All these problems were irradiated this year and everything felt like a smooth ride that was
The music was even more banging this year and the main GROOVE ODYSSEY stage had
such an impressive line up of Dj’s and acts spinning classics and future beats… The likes of Louie Vega, Masters at Work, and the legendary Bobby and Steve smashed it. Listening to them play was well
worth the wait.
But the Back to 95 tent always delivers, and the who’s who of the uk garage
scene, were in the building. Norris Da Boss Windross was on fire and I caught the tail end of Matt Jam Lamont’s set, and he sure did have the place moving. Elizabeth Troy and Shola Ama did a live
performance and I was reminded of how many riddims they had entertained me with for all these years….
You can’t really go wrong with 51st State, and every year it goes from strength to strength and gets bigger and bigger. Next year they might need a longer day and a bigger tent – Lol…

DJ Premier aka Preemo, one half of the 90's conscious group Gang Starr, is definitely in the top 10 best producer DJ's. He has produced for all your favorite
rappers (Nas, Jay Z) as well as collaborated with (Nice and Smooth, The Lox, KC & Jojo) the best. Instead of just having the DJ set, he brought along his Sneak Peak (SP) complete with
a horn section, drums, and guitar. If you could imagine having a jukebox of DJ Premier's produced and mastered songs, this would be it. He started off the show with some light work, playing some
of his hits with Sneak Peak. The he dropped "Nas is like," by Nas and I could not contain myself any longer. Lenny "The Ox" broke about 3 drum sticks by this time in the show. I hoped his sticks
would survive to the end of the show! He then put it down for all of East NY with selections from Jeru Da Damaja's "Come Clean", M.O.P.' S "Ante Up." Lil Fame, surviving member of M.O.P.' came out
from behind stage chanting Ante Up!! By this point Preemo started to flex his "I produced for..." muscle. Nice and Smooth came out and performed DWYCK, Gang Starr's most recognized hit. Other
guest appearances include Terminology, The GZA, and Group Home. Undoubtedly, DJ Premier's performance will rank in my top all-time live performances.

Saturday June 3rd in Bushwick Brooklyn, NY Bushwick Collective put on their annual block party featuring street art, music, food trucks and local vendors. At the
intersection of Troutman St. and St. Nicholas Ave the walls come alive with some of the best graffiti I have seen. Couple that with dope Hip Hop acts such as Mayhem Lauren (F*ck That's
Deleicious, Vice Network), CL Smooth (of Pete Rock and CL Smooth), and Dipset members Juelz Santana and Cam'ron. Then the DJ lineup of Statik Selekta, Evil D (of Black Moon), Jazzy Joyce and DJ Kidd.
Mayhem Lauren opened the show with a few selections from his new project, Piata D'oro. CL Smooth hit the crowd with hit after hit. But when he dropped "T.R.O.Y.", the crowd went bananas. Everybody
was singing along. There is nothing better than seeing Dipset in action again. Juelz rocked out to "Beamer, Benz, or Bently" and "Oh Yes" and had the crowd moving with him. Then out of nowhere you
here the strings and angelic voices…"Dipset, Dipset, Dipset." Then Cam'ron hits that stage with his raspy flow then the beat drops. All you could hear was the crowd chant "Dipset, Dipset, Dipset!!"
Cam followed up with Kanye produced, "Down and Out." Cam closed out the show with "Hey Ma." A Bushwick Collective organizer ended the show with a special dedication to "Diva" a neighborhood woman who
always looked out for the residents of the community. Her children were presented with a handmade sign depicting the word "Diva."
Wednesday June 21 one of my favorite groups of all time Digable Planets (DP's) hit the stage at Coffey Park in Brooklyn, NY. To warm up the stage, Natasha Diggs put
together an eclectic set of soulful jazzy tunes with a good dose of classic hip hop to compliment the DP's sound. My heart was beating so fast when I heard Butterfly's voice on the mic. Then the
beautiful LadyBug came out and Doodlebug followed right behind. DP's opened the show with two classics "It's good to be here" and "Where I'm from." As I soaked in the lyrics I remembered when I heard
their first album "Reachin." DP's are well known for their smooth hip hop beats infused with Jazz instruments. It was only right to have a wonderful band The Coaliton to accompany them. Any fan, such
as myself, would be overjoyed hearing them live. The audience was extremely diverse and I'm sure they gained some new listeners as well. But all good things must come to an end… they closed out the
show with their biggest hits "9th Wonder" and "Rebirth of Slick." They sounded exactly as they did years ago when I ripped the plastic off their cd and popped it into my car CD player.

Hot 97's own DJ Enuff celebrated his birthday at Lust Gentleman's Club last night. The scene was bananas, with DJ Drewski and Enuff keeping the party hype all night.
Brooklyn rapper Papoose showed love with his team, makin it rain in VIP. Remyboy Monty and Feti Wap held it down as well. Fetti Wap's "1738" diamond encrusted chain shows all the good work he put in
2016. PNB Rock kept it all the way live showin love to DJ Enuff. One of DJ Enuff's gifts was a Fathead of his face with gold teeth in his mouth. The event was star studded and let out just after 4am.
I hope I have a birthday like this someday!

I had the pleasure of going to see Jim Jones and Juelz Santana at the Roxy Lupos this past Sunday January 15. Although the two have had success in reality TV, they
still know how to tear down the stage and bring Harlem wherever they perform. They did massive crew records like "Dipset" and their individual hits as well. These two hip hop heavyweights have a
chemistry like peanut butter and jelly that will always be relevant in music. Skullgang also represented with some new music as well. Shout to The Glenn Report for inviting me out. Big mention to the
homie Tru L who setup the event for us, and a fellow member of Skullgang.

Opening acts lit up the stage at Irving Plaza as Lil Durk’s 2X tour kicked off in NY. Veteran acts such as Grafh and his Team Bang Dope Gang warmed the
stage with hit song "Trap Phone". Lil Durk and his crew filled the stage with lots of smoke and good vibes. Performing hits such as "If I Could" with the stage lights off and cell phone lights
illuminating the entire venue. A few more songs in, a little scuffle broke out in the crowd. Lil Durk immediately stopped the show, so security could remove combative patrons. The show continued with
hits like "So What" and "Money Walk." Durk interacted with the crowd giving daps and yelling "Squuaaaaad" as his fans yelled back, "Squuaaaaad." I'm sure fans got their money's worth when he brought
out label mate, Harlem's own, Dave East performing "Different Type of Time.”

Kindred the Family Soul was formed in the late 90s by Dantzler, a noted soul music writer, and
Graydon, a fine singer. They began writing together, covering themes not generally covered in modern R&B. Their lyrical thesis? “There is more to a
relationship than just the hook-up and the break-up. Most R&B songs are either about I just met you and I’m falling in love or I’m done with you and what the hell happened to us? But there’s
nothing in between. No room to talk about things outside of lustful love, the temptations and the profundity of love. There’s also the beauty of relationships and what they can bring about and what
emerges from them.” Kindred the Family Soul.
The duo married in the late 90s and began performing around Philadelphia. They became friends with Jill Scott and she helped them land a contract with Hidden Beach
Records in 2003.
Following the great critical success of ‘Surrender to Love’ and the smash hit ‘Far Away’, equally great anticipation arose for their follow-up album, ‘In This Life
Together’, inspired by and named after the autobiography of Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. The disc was released in October 2005. They followed with the excellent ‘The Arrival’, 2011’s ‘Love Has No
Recession’ and 2014’s ‘A Couple Friends’, solidifying their position as the voice of a generation of music fans working to keep relationships, family and romantic love alive.
The group’s sixth studio album ‘Legacy of Love’ was released Aug 2016.
This month the duo returns to UK shores, joining Kindred the Family Soul will be the very underrated Trina Broussard, her latest single ‘Adieu’ is out

I set off on this beautiful summers day, and I mean beautiful, 24 degrees and pure sunshine, with excitement and great expectations to the second, BUT my first,
51st State Festival. With the line up of artists and DJ’s due to appear, I couldn’t wait to make the journey from South to
North London, which I’m used to doing when I go to watch my beloved Tottenham Hotspur! But this was different.
I hot-footed it to Cockfosters, my first time ever, and arrived around 2pm. The station was full of revelers, happy in the knowledge, that the weather was great,
and there would be none of those scenes that you see at Glastonbury, with people in wellies. Anyway, after negotiating the
short-ish walk from the station to the massive picturesque Trent Park, I encountered the famous queues that so many people mentioned on social media from the festival last year. Fortunately, I knew
that I wouldn’t have to join this queue, as I had the privilege of a Press Pass and would be entering via the artist entrance, God is good!
After getting through security checks I was finally in having a chat with Josh and Freya, from The Rest Is Noise PR, who had
sorted out my pass. One complimentary can of cider and a bottle of water later, I was ready for the next 8-9 hours in the sweltering heat. Have to say, some others were not quite as sensible with
their hydration choice! I turned around to head to the Main Stage and I see a woman in an Afro wig and a pair of platforms.
That could only be the lady that is Barbara Tucker. I say hi, and of course have my photo taken with her. She tells me she’s a host for the day, more about Barbara later.
Passing through the VIP section, I heard the familiar sounds of DJ Opolopo, good set it was, but I wanted to explore my first taste of
At the "We Love Soul Tent" I was met by an enthusiastic crowd getting down to the sounds of JIGS playing 70’s soul and mixing it
up with some 80’s and 90’s classics.
I checked the set times for all the stages and headed back to the Main Stage for the house legend Marshall Jefferson, playing
his classic “House Music Anthem” while the crowd were going crazy. Marshall was killing it, but I needed to explore this massive venue, in this wonderful park.
I thought it was time to increase the average age of the "Back To 95" tent, and man was this tent popular! A much younger
audience than any of the other tents, full of energy, not even sure who was DJ-ing, but the sounds of Miss Dynamite feat. Sticky Boo was booming out the speakers, with everyone going crazy. I must
admit this tent was too hot for me, and to be truthful, I was probably too old!.
I noticed the long queues and thought it was for the bar. But no, it was for tokens in order to get refreshments, but then you
would have to join another queue to get your drinks! It was still early, I thought this would only get worse.
Next stop was the "Groove Odyssey" tent. This was definitely one of the highlights of my day, the legendary Basement Boys -
Teddy Douglas, DJ Spen and Karizma all on CDJ’s doing their thing simultaneously.
Mass Order’s “Lift Every Voice” belted out , then Crystal Waters “Gypsy Woman” and the the crowd was in frenzy. It was time to
flash my Press Pass. Within seconds I was on stage, watching these DJ’s doing their thing at such close quarters, an experience I will never forget. So many photos, so many good memories, well so I
thought! I later found out that my camera had some how deleted my entire gallery. Nightmare - but I didn't let that dampen my experience.
I was having so much fun that I’d forgotten my timings and missed Soul ll Soul. Oh no! Like all these type of events, timing is
not of military precision. But, I managed to catch that familiar voice of Jazzy B booming, “What’s The Meaning, What's The Meaning of Life" and the crowd reciprocating. Then the voice of Soul ll
Soul, Caron Wheeler, took over. She sounded just as good as she did in those halcyon days, back to 1990.
I’d bumped into DJ Femi Fem earlier, and I always like to hear him spinning, but not only was that a reason to return to the "We Love
Soul" tent, but the legend that is Roy Ayers would be performing in there as well. Femi Fem, kept the expectant crowd happy and entertained while back stage I caught up with Jazzie Que and Aitch
The anticipation level was high and finally, after a long wait, Roy Ayres took to the stage. But sadly his vibraphone wasn’t
working, and despite their best efforts, the sound engineers couldn’t get it to work, even after taking 10 minutes + to realise it wasn’t plugged in!!! Even that discovery didn’t rescue the
situation. Mr. Ayers was visibly pissed, but played the vibes regardless, and kept the crowd happy, by singing that fav, “Everybody Loves The Sunshine”.
No disrespect to Roy, but I’d had enough of this it was time to head back to the Main stage, where Chicago DJ, Mike Dunn was
performing another excellent set, to part of the 12,500 sell out crowd.
With his Chicago White Sox’s hat on, he cut a great figure, doing his thing, with his seamless mixing of House tracks. By now
the crowd needed the free bottles of water being handed out, and like I said, I was glad that I was drinking water, with the cans of cider (kindly provided by Josh and Freya), to keep me hydrated. I
just wished others were as sensible.
Before the highlight of my evening I popped back to "Groove Odyssey" tod watch the wonderful, lovely lady that is Monique
Bingham. She was doing her recent Louie Vega production, “Elevator (Going Up)," and the hits just kept coming. Some kind person handed Monique a much-needed fan, and despite the heat, her
professionalism shone through, a great performance.
Back to the Main Stage and I thought, isn't that David Morales behind the controls? Of course it was, and man did I know it! He
played like only Morales can, he had the crowd at his mercy, with some of his old and new classics.
Suddenly a man appeared with that familiar Fedora hat, Black T Shirt, Master at Work pendant chain moving into his set like he’s
producing a track in the studio. It was, of course, the king Louis Vega, and oh what a set. He went back in time to one of his classics. “Take a look around at all these people” boomed that line from
“Beautiful People,”but there was only one thing missing...stage right appeared House music DIVA, Ms. Barbara Tucker, and lawd can she SANG, yes not sing, SANG! Killing it with her exceptional
Dave Morales decided it was so good he needed to dance with her, and the two of them cut a fine partnership “busting some
moves”, as they say on the street. Next, I recognised that man in the overalls, with the bald head...it was NYC House Legend, Tony Humphries.
My middle-aged heart couldn't take anymore, it was 9pm and time to leave to avoid the crowds on the tube. A few others had the
same idea but thankfully there was a seat waiting for me at Cockfosters, thank God.
My only regrets were, firstly, I didn’t get to see Adeva or Kenny “Dope” Gonzales, and secondly, I never made it to the Hot UK
tent, which was way down the other end of the venue. Hey I’m no spring chicken!
I’ve read a lot of adverse reviews on social media about - long queues, people unable to bring in water or sun cream, bad
security practices, etc, etc. Personally, I hope the promoters get these things sorted, as I would like to see this Festival continue for many many years to come.
I had a BRILLIANT day and I even managed to get a photo with The Master At Work. FANTASTIC.

Legendary Hip Hop Rulers Mobb Deep are coming to the UK. See dates below:
“We had a good past, as well as a lot of turmoil in it as
well, it’s been both sides of the pendulum,” says RZA candidly. “So let’s make a better tomorrow.”
Following the huge sell out success of Wu-Tang
Clan’s 20th Anniversary tour last year, the biggest and most influential hip hop groups in the world return to the UK next year for two very special live shows in London and
It’s been over 20 years since the Wu-Tang Clan
(WTC) dropped their debut album, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), yet the Staten Island group’s influence on Hip-Hop and Pop culture still resonates, worldwide. The mega-talented team of
RZA, GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon, U-God, Master Killa, Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna (and the ever present in spirit Ol' Dirty Bastard) are returning with a new album titled A
Better Tomorrow, available December 2nd, that will only
certify their continued relevance in the music industry.
Since their 1993 debut, the WTC has released five
group and 19 compilation albums totalling 8 platinum records, over a dozen gold albums, and 40+ million sold. Wu-Tang Forever, a double album opus, was released in 1997, followed by The
W in 2000. Iron Flag was released a year later and after a brief hiatus, 8 Diagrams was released in 2007. Also released during these years were a myriad of solo albums
now considered classic Hip-Hop material including Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…, GZA’s Liquid Swords and Ghostface’s Supreme Clientele.
RZA aka The Abbott formed the Wu-Tang Clan with a
talented consortium of local friends and associates, pressing up “Protect Ya Neck” independently. The single was a flash of raw Hip-Hop energy that spread like wildfire. The song’s success—bar after
bar of incendiary rhymes, no chorus necessary—would help RZA and company land a unique record deal that granted members the ability to pursue solo deals at other labels.
Twenty years in, these lyrical executioners from Staten Island
maintain a chemistry that has manifested into yet another classic album. No matter how gloriously grimy the grooves, A Better Tomorrow proves the Wu-Tang Clan’s future, and
their music, remains an indisputable force to be reckoned. Overall, the album sonically, and purposely, has an epic feel. Says RZA, “We gotta be conscious that songs in our catalogue will grow
through live performances. This record was written to tour. This is a record that will rock a stadium.” While Wu-Tang Clan’s DNA is heard in the work of contemporary rap stars
like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and even Drake, it’s again time for the OGs to make their mark, and influence the future.
The two UK dates will see the influential group play exclusive
shows at London O2 Academy Brixton on 4th June and Glasgow O2
Academy on 5th June. Performing tracks from their incredible back
catalogue as well as songs from their new album A Better Tomorrow, this is set to be one of the most anticipated tours of 2015.

Sunday 27th April 2014 a date that certainly will not be forgotten by many, for those who attended “Twice As
Nice” Colosseum's closing party, there was very high expectations for this event and nobody was left disappointed at all.
This truly was the end of an era for the old skool raver, 10-15 years
ago in the same venue when most of us where in our late teens raving in colly (as we call it), 27/04/14
brought us back in the venue feeling like we never left, With House and Garage, Grime, Hip Hop, Reggae and Dancehall on the menu “Twice As Nice” catered for every person’s musical taste. Nights like
this don't come along very often!
The evening was packed with some of the good old movers and shakers and artists and Dj's like, Kele le Roc,
Bushkin, CKP, PSG, Corey Johnson from Defenders Ent, Mc Creed, DJ Spoony, DJ Woody, Artful Dogger, Charlie sloth, Dan Bowers, Luck and Neat, MC DT, Matt Curiosity, Chewy RWD, plus more.
There was a beautiful vibe a mature crowd and not a bit of
trouble. Everyone come together to reminisce and say goodbye to a piece of raving history,
Anybody who attended will agree there was nobody who could have given a better send off than “Twice As Nice”
because it was simply that twice as nice as the vibes we remember.
Sad to see Colosseum go but proud to have been there to be part of history.

Caught up with DJ Michael Jay, to see what he had to
What were your thoughts on Colly Sunday night?
Sunday 27th April’s Event at Club Colosseum will go down in history as one of the best
nights to grace the club... Who better to see the club off in style than TwiceasNice. The venue was packed with new to the scene ravers and old skool mature ravers a like...
The atmosphere was electric, the crowd was bumping and the VIP area full of celebs.....
How do you feel about the end of this Colly era?
lt's a shame that the venue has to close to make way for the Embassy, regardless, the venue has seen some
MONUMENTAL events and brands over the years.
It has been a while since TwiceasNice were at Club Colosseum, but we are very proud to be the last
and final event.
The event on Sunday will be talked about for years to come.....
Where is Twice As Nice going from here?
TwiceasNice are the UKs biggest Urban Event Operator worldwide, with international events every year in
countries including Ibiza, Aiya Napa (Cyprus), Bulgaria, Dubai, Tenerife, Malia, Kos, Zante, Fuengirola and many more each and every year....
As for UK events, as usual we have events planned up and down the country, although we will
be concentrating a lot more on London based TwiceasNice events.... With a Monthly event coming soon, and a London
What did you think of the turn out?
The turn out was tremendous, we had a very strong crowd across the genres and the club was
very busy. The love shown for the brand and artists was immense... We could not have been more proud of the
supporters as it was simply a great, safe, loving and exciting atmosphere, we will always en-devour to ensure each
and every TwiceasNice goer has a night to remember, always leaving with a smile on the face and want for more, as
well as sore feet :)
When's the next big oldskool garage event?
We have some huge plans for Summer 2014 and I simply advise to WATCH THIS SPACE with what's
to come.... As mentioned there will be a London based, regular event coming very soon, there will also be a 2015 tour
that will also be confirmed soon. Either way, TwiceasNice is and continues to be the best and biggest UK Urban Music Events. Operator... Something that ALL involved are hugely proud
Are there any last words?

I thought it was a great curtain call to the end of a legendary
nightclub great vibes and a totally full house for the final event.
Here's what PSG had to say about his thoughts on the event:
It was great to see so many of my peers, both work colleagues and ravers from back in the day under the
The vibe from back in the day was truly recreated, the crowd was responding just like they used
I personally have a special place in my heart for both TwiceasNice and Colosseum as this was one of the
places that allowed me to work consistently, and that enabled me to build the PSG name.
Colosseum may be a memory of the pass but TwiceasNice is here to stay.
We also caught up with The God Father MC Creed to touch this
I’ve loved the club for years working there and being a part of some really special moments
I feel sad to see the club go as it reminds me of some legends who are no longer with us like.. i.e Dj
Swing, Charlie Brown, MC Whizzard and Peter Cosa Nostra...
TwiceAsNice will continue to blaze a trail through Clubland...
Steve Gordon (Owner and Proprietor) told us to watch this space for future London events, so no
doubt people will be seeing some amazing events by this brand in the near future.
My final thought is at least now I can put my hat and hooded coat in the cloakroom cos
towards the end that door policy was a nightmare lol. Bless.
MC 'The Godfather' Creed
And last but not least, here’s some words by yours truly
What are your thoughts on Colosseum Sunday night?
We thought it was a nice reunion and an iconic event.
How do you feel about the end of this Colosseum era?
We think it’s a shame that London is losing its Super Clubs.
Where is TwiceasNice going from here?
We’ll be bringing the party on tour.
What did you think of the turn out?
Considering we hadn’t done a party in the Colosseum for 14 years, we were overwhelmed by the amount of
regulars that made an effort to attend – creating such an excellent vibe.
When is the next big old skool Garage event?
We are currently putting one together now.
Any last words?
Log onto www.twiceasnice.co.uk to
check out when we’ll be hosting a party near you.

We we're invited to a night called "Urbanrush" at The Nest in Dalsdon North London by Blantantly Blunt, put together by a promotions company called Doing Good

Bushkin was invited down to perform his new single "Fire". Flirta D from (Rockstarz Cartel) was headlined to perform and has a new mixtape called "Gash Machine". Reese Robertson performed some his
latest material. Just as the night was getting started with a performance from Bushkin, an unfortunate event happened where there was a power cut. Which forced us to exit the venue and call it a

With the release of NBA2K14 due, RWDMAG and 2K
teamed up to present an invite only exclusive first play at the The Regal in South London. The court was split into two with one half having playable versions of the game on both PS3 and Xbox 360
allowing guests to try out the new game the day before its actual release. The other half of the court however staged a 3on3 tournament featuring some prolific figures in the urban world including
Black Butter Records, Choice Fm,
GRM Daily, SBTV and Roll Deep. After some gruelling games the final was set for Roll Deep versus GRM Daily. With both teams looking strong this was guaranteed to be a hard one to judge,
however GRM Daily seemed to up there
game in the match and almost dominated an out of sorts Roll Deep team. As well as all the gaming and basketball action DJ Target (Radio1/1xtra/Roll Deep) supplied the tunes whilst cheerleaders
provided entertainment during intervals. One key note on this year’s game is that you can now play as some of Europes biggest Euroleague basketball teams and a king Lebron mode allows you to attempt
to win yet another championship for the Miami Heat.

During one of the other intervals the Big Brother house mates were all called on court to give moral support to a relay game.
Posing for a photo it was clear to see that things are different once you leave the environment of the house. We actually do get on and you realise that the programme is
also only a game too!
I networked with some great people today and got given loads of free goodies; hats and t-shirts from SnoodyDo and more t-shirts from both Hoop Aid and Wild Cats Energy
Drink. I really did feel like a celebrity!
Onto the after party for some mingling...... a couple of wines later myself and wolfy decide to depart. It had been a
long but well worth day, there again we were use to long days in the house we had to get up at 10am and were not allowed to go to sleep till 3am.
As I rolled into bed exhausted I was already thinking about rollingout the red carpet for the next VIP Event and as I drifted off to sleep I know I would definitely be
dreaming of men in shorts tonight.....

On Sunday 15th September 2013 The UK and Olympic
parks Copper Box arena (formerly basketball arena) experienced the first ever Hoopsaid event which is set to take place every other year. The event was put on in aid of Ellis Haggith who was
unfortunately diagnosed with Leukaemia which cut his basketball career short, with the help of his dad Lance Haggith who previously won the BBC sports personality of the year award. T
They put together this tremendous event to help raise awareness and money for research. The line up for the day was action packed keeping the crowd entertained from 12 midday all the way through till
Performances from girl group Alfee, London’s own Ecksell and New Yorks own D Jukes featuring Sophia May kept the crowd entertained with exceptional performances between games whilst the jaw dropping
Dunk Contest had the crowd glued to their seats with their phones at the ready.
If you have never seen a wheelchair basketball game before then please make sure you get to one, the battle back soldiers took to the court, players literally charging at each other to get possession
of the ball in a closely contested low scoring game with the winners being presented there awards by British heavyweight Boxer David Haye.
With the warm up games out the way it was time for the main event the Hoopsaid All Stars vs Sports Traider All Stars, the initial introduction of the teams included a presentation of a pair of Nike
shoes from Mr David Haye to Ellis Haggith before the all star cast featuring bbl players, GB players and celebs including Dane Bowers, Leo The Lion, Shane from Boyzone and D Jukes to name a few took
to the court. T
he game was intense, very close from the get go and helped that the teams where a mixture of talent from players who play regularly to players who didn't have a clue and just wanted to have a great
time, the inclusion of the
dunk contest winner meant that the game was not short of memorable moments with alley oops and ball skills. The closely contested game ended with only 4 points difference and marked a momentous
occasion for the Haggith family.
The day as a whole was unbelievable and with many celebrities in attendance including the 2013 Big Brother cast including Jemima Slade, Gina, Daley, Wolfy, (Winner) Sam to name a few and British
heavyweight boxer David Haye it shows the level of support for a great cause. If you missed the event there are still many ways to donate, head over to the Sports Traider website for more

August Bank holiday weekend
With a budget of only a quarter of the usual Mathew Street Festival, the inaugural International Music Festival had a humongous task of making this the best it could be.
I never was a huge fan of the Mathew street festival as it was mostly Beatles tribute bands, so the idea of a new festival which focuses on the past, present and the future was a relief.
This weekender literally had something for everybody, starting on the opening night with a classical music spectacular in Sefton park which included the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, taking the
crowd into the night with a spectacular fireworks display to end the proceedings.
The Saturday festivities featured a special Beatles themed day created by the Mathew street festival director, which took place in Sefton park. T
he attention was mostly on the pier head were chart toppers JLS, Little Mix, Stooshe and more took to the stage with the river Mersey providing a beautiful picturesque backdrop taking you through the
afternoon. Sunday became one of the most talked about days with people travelled up and down the country to see the legendary Damian Marley with Robbo Ranx in which he showcased his new collective
featuring the legendary Wayne Marshall.
If it wasn't enough that Damian Marley headlined the Sunday the idea of soul2soul headlining on the Monday afternoon with support from BBCs own Dev and local soul legends The Christians had put this
festival in the history books as a monumentous and successful occasion. With festivities running for well over a month it meant that local
promoters, radio stations and artists could get involved by putting on their own events and have it under the LIMF banner. All this in its inaugural year with next to no funding compared to Mathew
street festival, one thing can be
said about this successful event and that is “WOW”.
